Discussion of cooperation between the Executive Unit for IDPs and MSF .

 

Today, the Director General of the Executive Unit for IDPs in Marib Governorate, Saif Muthanna, met with the MSF project coordinator, Mr. David Washira Thajan, at the Executive Unit office in Marib Governorate.

During the meeting, ways to enhance cooperation between the Executive Unit for IDPs and MSF were discussed, in an optimal way, by contributing to alleviating the human suffering of IDPs according to the priorities of needs, especially in the health aspect.

Director General Saif Muthanna praised the role played by the organization, pointing out the importance of conducting an assessment in order to reach the places and groups most in need and to see the human suffering.

He pointed out the importance of strengthening coordination between the Executive Unit and the specialized offices of the local authority and MSF in implementing sustainable projects and effective interventions that contribute to alleviating the human suffering of IDPs.

He touched on the humanitarian needs in various sectors, foremost of which is the health sector, which is one of the most important sectors to limit the spread of diseases, epidemics and fevers among IDPs.

For his part, “David” indicated that the aim of the assessment is to gain better understanding of population needs including IDPs, migrants and Muhamesheen communities in consideration of recent developments of reduced funding, incentives, functioning health facilities, with the aim of advocating other actors/donors for the response, appreciating the cooperation accorded to MSF by the Executive Unit and the specialized offices of the local authority in the governorate.

Muthanna thanked the efforts and contributions of MSF in the health sector in Marib governorate.
